Adrian Mateos EPT
Adrian Mateos is just 27 years old, but he has already put together one of the most impressive live tournament resumes in poker history. The Spanish professional player is a four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, including a victory in the WSOP Europe main event which he secured at just 19 years of age. He is also a European Poker Tour main event champion, having won the EPT Monte Carlo in 2015 for more than $1.2 million. Mateos most recent marquee victory came at the same venue. He emerged victorious from a field of 42 entries in the 2022 EPT Monte Carlo €100,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em super high roller event, earning €1,385,430 ($1,454,702 USD) and his 20th live tournament title.

Mateos now has more than $27.8 million in lifetime earnings, enough to put him in 18th place on poker’s all-time money list. He is the runaway leader on the Spanish money list, with more than twice the earnings of his nearest competitor in Sergio Aido ($12.9 million).

“It feels amazing to win the Super High Roller seven years after winning the Main Event. The Adrian from seven years ago was a different person. Today I think I’m more mature and a different player too.

“I’m still the same guy trying to compete and play the best. The pandemic helped me a lot to improve my game. €1,385,430, so after the pandemic is more or less finished, I’m at my highest level and I’m ready to keep winning.”

“I’m a really competitive person, I really like the competition. Especially in the highest stakes with the best opponents. I’m ready to keep playing and to try and keep winning.”
